Alive but not living, dead but not departed..

[9:52 pm]

It has been 551 days, 9 hours, 59 minutes and 7 seconds since you told me about your reluctance in getting into any relationship again.

After that day, a part of me basically died. I have finally come to understand the meaning of the phrase; "Alive but not living, dead but not departed".

Dear friend ZW has correctly pointed out that perhaps I should move on and explore other options. His point is simple; no girls are the same and if I insist on finding someone same as her, I may not find her at all. What's the slim probability of meeting someone who is similar to her? Perhaps the probability is similar to that of seeing a star in the eye of the typhoon.

I always believed that she is somewhere out there, waiting for me to find her and likewise she is also searching for me. I am also bound to the fact that every step I take is one step closer on a bridge that we must cross to meet. No matter how long or difficult the journey is, I will reach this bridge. For you are out there waiting for me. And as long as I am alive, there has not been a day without you.

P.S I love you....

Heart-wrenching Natural Disasters..

[11:13 am]

The past weeks have seen a string of natural disasters rocking our region; from a tropical cyclone which wrought destruction over the Irrawady river delta of Myanmar to the devastating earthquake of Sichuan which wiped out almost a generation of people..

It also showcased the contradicting sides of the humanity; a side where because of fear for themselves, the leadership prevented foreign disaster relief assistance and instead of channeling resources to distribute aid, used it hunt for a journalist. The other side where a country mobilised its massive armed forces who trekked through the night in areas totally cut off to save people by using their both hands and people from all over the country came out and offered their help.

I can tell you while its one thing to see a whole town wiped off the map for towns can be rebuilt, but its heart-wrenching to see rows of dead kids lined up in makeshift morgue. Yesterday's news was enough to bring me close to tears; a kid whose arms had to be amputated in order to save his life. He was pleading to the doctor to just amputate one of his arms as he wanted to use the other one to do his homework.

The other heart-wrenching one is to see kids queueing up for their aid in Myanmar. I wonder with so much aid being flown into the country, why is the political leadership so reluctant to accept help from the international community to distribute them? If you can't trust the westerners, at least let your ASEAN brothers help you. We have the helicopters and the manpower to help you. All because the political leadership is worried about National Security..I can predict, if they can't solve this issue, national security will be a problem when the people revolt.

I have always believed that kids shouldn't go through all these tribulations in their growing years but sometimes fate can cruel to them. How many of us will ever go through this type of hardship? Not many, for many of our younger generation is concerned with whether they can buy that new PSP, the latest GTA IV or when they can go Tokyo for their holidays. All these are giving rise to kids who are getting soft and not used to hardship.

If I have kids, I am going to make sure that life will not be too comfortable for them. They must learn some form of hardship to let them learn how to appreciate the simple things in life. Through some hardship will we be able to build character.

Be it when you go to the mosque, church, and temple over this long weekend, remember to pray for the victims and survivors of the cyclone in Myanmar and the earthquake victims in China.

Long weekend!!!

[9:22 pm]

Finally, a long weekend with no rehearsals!!! Coupled with a day's leave on Tuesday, yours truly will be spending a grand total of 4 days resting and catching some solitude from my work. Woohoo!!!

So, am I going on a holiday? No!!!! As I could knew about the cancellation of the rehearsal last saturday, I had to rush to apply for a new passport and to book my accomodation at Redang, hoping to catch some solitude and diving. When my friends knew about it, they were wondering why in the hell will someone want to go overseas alone? Isn't that boring?

On the contrary, I don't think so. Travelling alone gives you time to recharge yourself without the constant strain of statisfying everyone's whim. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. I just want to get away from all the stressful work and lie by the beach in my Oakleys, reading my book and sipping a martini.

But in the end? The tour agency reverted that my accomodation of choice was fully booked. So, yours truly have to spend the next 4 days wondering what to do. Just when I was at a loss, dear Mother came up with a brilliant solution - take the DSLR and go photo-shooting. So, I have listed down a couple of places where I can do my photoshoots.

Is it boring doing all things alone? Let me rephrase again, am I a boring person if I am doing all these stuff alone? No. Which photographer that you know of don't work alone?

Have great weekend ahead!!!

Move to the rear pls!!!

[8:37 pm]

This was one of the rare time where I foresake the car and took a combination of train and bus to work this morning.

Actually what has not changed is that passengers are still NOT moving to the rear to allow the others to board the bus. I had to resort to pushing through the crowd to get to the rear. If I wasn't wearing my uniform, I would had given them a piece of my mind. If I had given them a piece of my mind, I would surely be on Stomp with the tagline; "Civil servant shows off a bad side of the society, is this what we want in our Civil Service?"

Sure would had given my boss a heart attack..hahaha

So next time if you are taking public transport, move the center if you are taking the train or move to the rear if you are taking the bus. Help lah!!!

Warehouse sale

[11:11 am]

Wasn't much of a warehouse sales fan until yesterday, that is.

Yesterday was the 2nd day of the MPH warehouse sale at the Expo and being curious, I left work early and went down to take a look at the books that they were clearing off.

Who would thought that a planned 1 hr over there stretched to nearly 3 hrs? The paperbacks were going at 5 for $20 and the other books were going at $7!!!! By doing your sums, it will translate to 60 - 80% off the market rate. If you have the time to browse through the rows upon rows of books, you will sure to pick up some good buys.

In the end, I spent around $60 for 11 books which are a mixture of paperbacks and non-fiction books. These quantity of books would have easily cost me $200-$300 if I had bought them during normal days. Haha..what a good buy!!!

Oh, did I mention that if you are a Citibank credit card member, you have an addition 10% discount if your total purchase is $50 and above? So hurry up, make a trip down there and grab your books!!! The sales is on till 4 May 08!!

P.S. Now I can only wait..you don't reply to my SMSes..you don't even want to keep in contact with me, do you? I have been waiting for so long, it does not matter no more..

Come what may, I will still love you till my dying days..excerpt from Moulin Rouge
