and it's time again to reflect on our achievements for 2006.
Looking back, 2006 has been a miraculous year for me. For starters, I managed to graduate from university in time!! Back then, the future was looking bleak for me, as I was stressed out by the effects of breaking the contractual terms. But it became a motivating factor for me; I studied harder, told myself that I will graduate with my compatriots, no matter whatever it takes. And I did it!! The process was painful, but as I looked back, I knew that I had to do it, it was a matter of personal achievement.
Career-wise, the starting part was full of set-backs as I struggled through long nights trying to bring myself back into the system after leading a "carefree" lifestyle in the civilian world. Being reprimanded by the bosses wasn't that good but, it spurred me to become a better person. If you have watched the movie; "The Devil Wears Prada", I was in the similar situation as the new assistant, lost. But, slowly and surely I became a much better person under these "extreme" conditions.
Relationship-wise, well, it was another year of dry spell, if I can simply put it. Maybe my standards are too high. Or, perhaps I am just too shy to go up to gals and say hi and get to know them. But, all along, I have set my sights on this gal, but it seems like it has been a "no-go" for so many years. Should I go on? Should I move? I don't know. All I know is that, it takes time..hopefully time will tell me what's the best for me.
My resolution for 2007? It's simple, just to be a better person then I was in 2006. Live life to the fullest and be a happy man.
Happy New Year!!

Time has passed by so fast ever since we first met 11 years ago. Even though we went on to lead our own life after leaving secondary school, you have always been on my mind throughout these years.
You can say I am being stupid or whatever you want, but all I want to let you know that I always wanted to take care of you, be there for you, walk through journey of life with you. Even though many things have happened in the past, I don't even give a hoot about it. Why should we dwell on the past and live under the shadow of it when we can look at the future and create one together?
You wanted to concentrate on your career and had no time for another relationship..you would be flying often, but if we put our heart on it, no problems are insurmountable. Your time is my time, and I hope that we can work things out.Labels: Matters of the heart

Now that my leave is over, its time to head back to office to clear up the accumulated work. And after going through my email today, yes I know its Xmas, I have come to realised that there are huge amount of work to do.
Oh well, what to do? Just follow Nike's motto; Just Do It...haha..
Anyway, just to update on the status of my eyes. The vision is back and the eyes seem to be adjusting to the world without glasses. It does get dry from time to time, especially under air-con environments, but thats a small price to pay for living glassless..hehe
I am also re-learning the lessons of proper eye care, by resting my eyes more often after prolonged near work, reading under proper lighting and of course, not sitting so close to the tv. Do take time to adjust though, but I am going to do whatever's necessary to take care of my eyes.
Xmas came and went..and there's nothing special about it anymore. Went for dinner and drinks with my friends and thats it. I was home before 12..so, Xmas is nothing special anymore..haiz..
At least, i have pampered myself with a slew of Xmas presents; a Mont Blanc pen and a pair of Oakley shades. Blew a bomb on these stuff, boo hoo..but what the heck, must pamper myself right?
Merry Xmas people!!

Yup..went for LASIK surgery today. Was kinda scared at first..but the doc's reassuring voice got me through the whole thing.
The initial part was uncomfortable as the doc placed something over my eye and cut the cornea flap. After which, I had to focus my eye on the blinking red light which was actually the re-shaping laser. I smelt something burning which I reckoned was my cornea being burnt off.
The whole process for both eyes was over within 15 minutes. After which, the nurse applied the lubricating drops and antibiotic drops. And I was instructed to lubricate my dry eyes every 15 minutes. Even though my vision is kinda blur for a while, I can see the difference before the op and after the op. The vision is getting better by the hour, even though I can't do any near reading for a while.
And tonight, I would have to wear the eye shield over the eyes to prevent myself from rubbing and infecting them. For the next few days, I would also have to wear sunglasses to protect them for they are getting sensitive. Hooray to a new lease of sight!!!
Ok, time to lube the eyes again..till then..cheerios!!

And this is my wishlist;
1) Mount Blanc Starwalker pen,
2) Oakley shades,
3) A pair of formal shoes,
4) A pair of earphones for my iPod,
5) New clothes.
With the salary and bonus both in, I can finally buy No. 2 to No. 5. As for No. 1, I am looking at who will buy it for me..*hint, hint*..
Anyway, I went for my pre-LASIK assessment today. It was a 3 hrs long procedure and every one was so friendly. I was the minority there, with the majority of them being women. So you can say it was full of eye candy for me..hee..
Well, I would be going for the op on Wednesday and by Thursday, I would be ditching the stupid glasses...yay!!
Life's good man!!

how I felt about her before I left for my overseas training stint. But it was over SMS before I boarded the plane. She had replied to my text by the time I reached Australia.
And to prove my hunch correct, she's been avoiding this issue. She wants to concentrate on her career for a while and don't want to stress herself over relationship issues. Besides, she says she didn't want to give me the impression that she's avoiding me because she can't pay back the loan. It was absurd I can tell you..and I told her that straight, that it was because of her and not the goddamn money..she's always been special to me..and I had always wanted her to be happy..
Before I lost any reception, I told her that things can be worked out and we would have a nice chat once I come back and here we are..maybe back to square one? I SMS'd her that I am back and when she's ready, we would talk..but by the looks of it, I doubt so..so let's hope and pray..Labels: Matters of the heart

Back from the Sunshine State!!!
Harloz boys and gals!! I'm back!!!
Can't believe it, after 3 weeks of sun, dust and flies, I'm back home. Reached home in the wee hours today and now, where am I? Back in camp doing manning..haiz..long story which i won't elaborate, but at least the scheduler was kind enough to cover till 3 pm for me while I unpacked my gear...thanks!!
Well, we reached our base camp after 7 hours of flight and 2 hours of bus journey. Instructions came from the boss to pack our gear for an extended stay in the field. (Read: 12 days minimum). Spent 1 hour packing the ruck to the brim with sleeping bag (which I never even used at all), sleeping mat and the cold weather gear before heading to the canteen for some dinner and beer.
The next day, we took a long and dusty ride out to the training grounds..and believe me, it was dusty!!! All our stuff and weapons were covered with a fine coat of dust..which was to be the standard norm for the rest of the exercise. The weather was pretty extreme I would say..hot during the day and awfully bone-chilling at night. Sure would have frozen if not for the cold weather gear..hehe..
And we had to contend with no handphone reception for the entire duration..and the standard activity when we were not manning was to comb the area for any handphone reception..hehehe..you would be surprised that everything we learnt on the use of comms equipment during training days came in handy..hahaha..once reception was found, some kind soul would plant a sign saying; "Handphone reception here"..sure provided some morale booster to us guys out in the field..
Another standard activity would be sitting under the stars chit-chatting about food, women, cars, cheonging locations, etc. As majority of the fellows in our section were reservists, I sure learnt alot from them.
R&R wasn't much to cheer about for many of us were dying to get out of the country after long harrowing weeks in the field. And what do you get when you let loose kids deprived of many stuff? Kids going out for good food, drinks and many things which I better don't mention..hehe.
Oh well, that's all for now..till then..have fun!!
